40 DAYS WALK WITH JESUS THROUGH THE STATIONS

THE SEASON OF LENT AND LENTEN FAST: As the Season of Lent continues, let us remember it is a season to which we are called to prayer, almsgiving, fast and abstinence. All the faithful who have reached 14 years of age and above can chose to abstain from meat and any favourite dish or drink. All the faithful between the ages of 18 and 60 years are called to fast. Wednesdays and Fridays within Lent are traditionally for fast and abstinence. In practice, fasting involves limiting oneself to a single full meal or two smaller meals a day. Please note that those who are sick, pregnant or breast feeding or whose health would adversely be affected by fasting are not obliged to fast.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS AND OTHER LENTEN ACTIVITIES: We encourage parishioners to take part in the spiritual exercises lined up for this year’s Lenten Season so that the spiritual renewal which this season of repentance offers would be achieved in our lives.. Throughout the Season of Lent, Stations of the Cross takes place in the parish every Friday throughout Lent immediately after the Midday Mass and also by 6:00pm. On Wednesdays Stations of the Cross takes place only by 6:00pm. Please note that on Fridays the traditional Alphonsus Ligouri booklet is used while on Wednesdays the Dominican booklet is used. Copies of the booklets are available in the bookshop.

LENTEN SPIRITUAL EXERCISES’ CARD: In the Season of Lent, we are called to deepen our relationship with God. In line with our 2023 Parish Personal Commitment Statement, we are called to remain in the Presence of God. Lenten Spiritual Cards are being distributed for our personal use. Let us resolve to attend the Stations of the Cross throughout the season of Lent and engage in other spiritual exercises. We are meant to tick the calendar in the card every time we attend mass and the Stations of the Cross. May this season indeed be a season of renewal through Christ our Lord.
